Several weeks ago, there was posted a code fragment demonstrating a (fairly) SYSV portable way of testing for pending (unread) characters on stdin (from the terminal). My vague recollection is that the code invoked a couple of innocuous UNIX system calls with obscure arguments designed to Raise The Beast (just kidding...}:-> ) We have similar code in place for the BSD and MS-DOS version of our application software, but now we need it for a SYSV port (to the 3B series, no less). Of course, I lost the original posting, and my previous request for this fragment elicited no responses (I suspect the request met with the Great West Cost News-Quake). Would some please, no,, PLEASE mail me the that code fragment? Or at least a hint at the solution? As before, I'll forward responses to those who mail me requests (I have 3 or 4 request so far- I haven't forgotten you). Thanks for the help! barry -- LIVE: Barry A.
