[comp.lang.c] re Why is it that?

MISS026%ECNCDC.BITNET@wiscvm.wisc.EDU (GREENY) (04/24/87)

I tend to think that it is because the people on the Info-C list and
Un*x related lists happen to be some of the most intelligent people on the
nets and perhaps the world. When you say something they think about it,
take a puff on their pipes, grab a piece of pizza.....munch on it a bit
and then say...."Wait a sec....that cant be.....what about this...." and
so it goes....another 50 page message gets posted to the list, causing more
and more 50 page messages. Personally I think it's great....I have learned
more in one year from the nets than I have learned in 5 or 6 years of classes
and best of all ---> the nets are friendly AND fun.....and you cant find
that in too many neighborhoods in the world....

Also it may have to do with the fact that Un*x people on these lists are
the type who spend all night writing a program on one terminal while
simultaneously (in the background? :-> ) eating a pizza....drinking a
beer.....and playing rogue!!! (at least that's what I do....)

'nuf said.....

bye for now but not for long.....

An interesting fact is re-dicovered in news.lists every month: except
the '.source' groups, the largest volume is on groups like talk.religion,
soc.singles and talk.politics. These groups also have the largest size
of articles per poster, and lowest ratio of readers per poster. If you
ever peek into them, make sure you have your asbestos suit on, as they
contain a lot of flame. All this proves that there is no linear connection
between the volume of the group and the average I.Q. of participants.

Comp.lang.c is simply one of the most widely read groups (but I do
agree to your statement about our intelligence :-) ).
