There was an article in byte a while back about the new Novix Forth-based
cpu, and there was considerable discussion about a C compiler that
compiled to Forth high level code, which then would be compiled by the
appropriate Forth kernel.
This I seems to address both running C in a stack environment (as Forth
is a stack environment inherently) and also having a C compiler generate
a portable a.out (of sorts).
Upon closer examination, the issue turns out to be April '87 (p. 177).
"Curiouser and curiouser," said Alice.
