I know that pieces of this dicussion go on all of the time - perhaps that will make my request easier to get rid of :-) I am in search of book and article references to the problems and solutions of making C programs easier to port between various unix flavors AND to other non-unix os environments (mvs, vms, os/2, ms-dos, etc). I work in an environment which wants to expand our programming guidelines, examples, development environment, etc. to make the initial development of software more easily portable. I would also like personal experiences, warnings, horror stories, brag fests, etc. on practices that you find useful or harmful. Any tips would be appreciated. It would probably be in the best interests of the net for you to mail me this info - I would guess that this kind of thing goes on the net alot. In fact, if you have collected this type of info from the net - feel free to pass that along if you like. Lastly, if you know some folks on the net who are considered experts at writing portable code pass along their name if they wouldnt mind.
