It all depends on whether you read books to observe character growth (LOTR and such - surface writing), or read books for personal growth (Donaldson, Zelazny, ...). I personally like books that take you through the psyche of the character and let you look out from his/her eyes, rather than books that merely let you wear the same clothes. I also don't shun an opportunity to increase my vocabulary. All personal opinion of course... Michael Cooley nmtvax!344cool

Did Donaldson actually name something, or someone, "ramen"? If so, was this an intentional funny-bit about cheap japanese noodle soup or just another of his gloriously inane linguistic excesses?
