My colleagues and I are involved in a discussion concerning the advisability of using C as the language in our CS1 course. At the present time, we are using Pascal in this course and introducing C in a more advanced course. We see significant advantages in changing to C but, at the same time, have some apprehension about using C as a the language for beginning students. Not wanting to "re-invent the wheel", we are interested in the experiences that others may have had.
