Hi, Yet another playing records backwards article... On Prince's Purple Rain soundtrack, at the end of the first side, the song "Nikki", there is a dialog recorded backwards, something like, "Hi, How are you doing ?" "I'm fine, cuz (sung) I know the Laud's cum'n sooon..." Anyone catch the exact dialog, or what's it all about ? Cheers, Dan Ts'o ...cmcl2!rna!dan

Sounds to me like someone's trying to frighten faithful Satanists by insinuating back-masked Christian messages in our rock'n'roll!

In general, I like the idea of secret messages in records -- it gives me a 60's nostalgia rush. However, I am disturbed by the ambiguous Christian symbolism in Prince's albums. I guess he has to compete with Michael Jackson in the obscure religion area, but I would prefer to retain my image of him as a role model for decandence and hedonism, if not Minnesota urban nihilism. You didn't mention the "hahahaha" at the end of the Purple Rain secret message -- maybe it's all a joke. P.S. I'm sure everyone has noticed the "Love God" message in the "When Doves Cry" video.
