[net.music] a more interesting group members quiz

jeff@dciem.UUCP (Jeff Richardson) (08/09/84)

I was on vacation so I just saw Glenn's quiz on Aug. 7, worked on my
answers Aug. 8, and was about to send them in today (Aug. 9) when I saw
the answers posted. I was very disappointed because I would have done
well, so my only way of proving that I know a lot about such things is
to make up my own quiz. I think this one's a little more difficult than
Glenn's and most of you should find it more fun because you might be able
to guess a lot of the ones that you don't know. It's mainly about people
who get around. Sorry for the emphasis on 70's progressive rock, but
that seems to be where most of the people who got around came from.
Anyway, here are the questions:

1. Name at least two musicians who have appeared on record as fully-fledged
members (i.e. guest appearances don't count) of four different groups.
Name also their groups and the instruments they play.
[2 points for each musician plus 1 for each group and instrument.
Bonus points for naming more than two, and super bonus for naming
somebody that has recorded as a member of five different groups,
provided you can name all five groups.]

2. What do the following all have in common? [4 points]
Adrian Belew, Brian Eno, Robert Fripp, John Lennon, Giorgio Moroder,
   Mick Ronson, Rick Wakeman.

3a. Who do the following five albums have in common? [4 points]
Camel - "I Can See Your House From Here"
    Frida - "Something's Going On"
Steve Hackett - "Voyage Of The Acolyte"
    Mike Oldfield - "QE2"
Robert Plant - "The Principle Of Moments"

 b. Who do the following five albums have in common? [6 points]
    Camel - "Rain Dances"
    King Crimson - "Islands"
    Kokomo - "Kokomo"
    Richard Wright - "Wet Dream"
Wang Chung - "Points On The Curve"

4. For each of the following pairs of groups, who was a member of both?
In most cases, it's one person, but for some it's more than one.
[2 points for each person and another 1 for his or her instrument]
 a. Asia & The Buggles
 b. The Bee Gees & Strawbs
 c. The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band & The Rutles
 d. The Cure & The Glove
 e. Jefferson Airplane & New Riders Of The Purple Sage
 f. King Crimson & Bad Company
 g. The Monks & Strawbs
 h. Motorhead & Hawkwind
 i. Roxy Music & 801
 j. The Sex Pistols & Public Image Ltd.
 k. Siouxsie And The Banshees & Magazine
 l. The Spencer Davis Group & Blind Faith
 m. Talking Heads & The Tom Tom Club
 n. 10CC & The Mike Oldfield Group
 o. Ultravox & Visage
 p. Wings & Thunderclap Newman
 q. Yes & Flash
 r. Yes & The Moody Blues

I'll post the answers and winners in early September. Good luck.
