Recently, I posted a message to comp.lang.c requesting information on C compiler validation suites. I got responses from the following people: Kerry Mire convex!kmire@uxc.cso.uiuc.edu Cliff Click cliff@ficc.uu.net Phil C. Miller !iwarp.intel.com!pcm Ken Nielsen ken@dde.dk Peter Plamondon peter@langlab1.hf.intel.com George VandeBunte gvb@punjab.udev.cdc.com John Rogers JohnRo@Microsoft.UUCP These companies were mentioned: Plum Hall $9,500 1 Spruce Ave. Cardiff, NJ 08232 609-927-3770 Fax 609-653-1903 ACE Associated Computer Experts bv Van Eeghenstraat 100 1071 GL Amsterdam The Netherlands tel int: +31 20 646416 telex: 11702 (ace nl) facs: +31 20 750389 Email: info@ace.nl or ..!seismo!mcvax!ace!info HCR Corporation $10,000 130 Bloor Street West 10th Floor Toronto, Ontario Canada M5S 1N5 (416) 922-1937 Telex 06-218072 HCR TOR Fax (416) 922-8397 A company called Perennial was also mentioned by a couple of responders, but no address was given. Perennial's price was listed at around $5,000, but their test wasn't considered very good. Plum Hall was rated the highest by those who ventured an opinion. Also, The Austin Code Works was mentioned as a source for the C Torture Test (PD). However, a call to them revealed that they no longer sell the Torture Test. Apparently, it was discovered that this was the property of ATT, and not PD after all. One responder also indicated that the Torture Test (if he was talking about the same thing) isn't a very good test of a compiler. -- John Cavanaugh John.Cavanaugh@StPaul.NCR.COM NCR Comten, Inc.
