I was looking through old issues of the Microsoft Systems Journal for interesting articles when I came upon a review of program editors in the March 1988 issue. Considering that it's a current topic here, I thought I should mention it. They reviewed in depth: BRIEF ME (from Magma Software Systems, not Multi-Edit!) VEDIT PLUS UNIPRESS EMACS KEDIT Of these five, they preferred ME from Magma Software Systems, because it had all the functionality of the others (and more in the case of EMACS and KEDIT), used a C-like macro language and was only $40 verses $185-$1255 for the others.
