[comp.lang.c] Text Indexing

I am looking for PD C code for a BTree or Trie module and, ideally, for
a good text-indexing and -retrieval system.  I have found a lot of btree 
code, but it is all hopelessly MeSsyDOS-bound.  Does anyone know where I
