[net.sf-lovers] Hogan semi-flame

There has alwys been something that bothered me about Jim
Hogan's "The Two Faces of Tomorrow". During the period when
the computer is fighting the people it constructs these ships
that somehow shoot out x-rays at unknowing ships. Then later
in the novel some computer technicians get hold of a terminal
and start inputting technical data to the program and the program
is in awe at the wonders of science.
Question: How could the program design the x-ray ships
(that the humans don't have) and not know the "wonders of
science".
