The posible social consiquences of easy organ transplants and organ banks
has been examined in detail in several short stories and novels by Larry Niven

Some titles I can recall are A Gift From Earth, The Patchwork Girl, The Long
Arm of Gil Hamilton (?).  In general Niven is very pessemistic about the
behavior of society if people can extend their lives with parts of someone
else.

Actually, I believe that 6 tried to break out; 2 were killed in the
attempt, and the other four made it to Earth.  No, wait a minute --
I think you were right about the one getting fried trying to get into
the Tyrell Corporation.  And the four remaining were Roy Batty, Leon,
Zora, and Pris (Rachel wasn't a part of that group -- she was already
with Tyrell on Earth).  So that does leave one unaccounted for...
hmmm...Bladerunner II?  Naaahhhh.
