A request for information on ANSI-compliant C compilers follows. A certain major hardware vendor that will remain nameless (its initials are Sun Microsystems Inc., though) does not supply an ANSI-compliant C compiler with its systems. It does sell an unbundled product that is, as I understand it, quasi-ANSI-compliant. We are interested in getting an actually compliant compiler for our machines from this vendor and would like any input on commercially available products that you knowledgeable readers would be so kind as to offer. Comments on price, reliability, strictness of conformance to the standard, support, performance, etc. will be greatly appreciated. Please (really, please) e-mail directly to me and if there is interest I will summarize here, or send the summary to interested parties. Lets not abuse this poor overworked newsgroup any more than we must. Unless you specify otherwise in your message, I will assume that I may use your name and comments in a summary. Thanks in advance. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- C. Bruce Worden bruce@seismo.gps.caltech.edu 252-21 Seismological Laboratory, Caltech, Pasadena, CA 91125
