Here are the main entries from my on-line bibliography for the book I believe you are refering to: Title: The Man Who Folded Himself Author: David Gerrold Publisher: Random House, Inc. New York This has some very interesting story lines involving the splitting of time lines due to time travel and their re-convergence when subsequent choices are cancelling. There is a great section about a very large party whose attendees are only the man with the belt visiting from many different times and time lines. The way in which this all worked is however not explained, since the protagonist never actually works it out (after all his uncle must have to construct the belt right?). Good Luck, I hope this helps. Mike.
