[comp.lang.c] Curses for non-unix machine

daye@jacobs.cs.orst.edu (Garion) (01/13/91)

I am working on converting a Unix program (rogue) to Hyper C. Aside from
memory restrictions on overlay size, my only real problem has been curses
and termcap. There are several variables (do, uc, so, se, te, ve, etc)
which I need to know what they mean. I also need a way to find a totally
random number to use as a seed (the original uses processid). Any help
would be appreciated (and gain mention in the credits....)

Don't ask why I'm doing this...this is how I'm learning C due to a lack of
$$$ to buy a book.

I'd also like some help regarding certain functions which return an error
#0x0a from the hyperc assembler. I don't know why, and size doesn't seem
to be the problem. If anyone can tell me what the error is and how to
fix it, that would be appreciated.

Sometime in the next month look for HyperRogue, a rogue that can be played
by anyone on a // that can run hyper C. I'd also like suggestions for
any nifty little additions that could be made. I'm planning to use some
mousetext characters, if I could figure out why I'd add mouse support, but
I don't see what good it'd do.

If this pans out successfully, apple-users may look forward to a few more
Roguish games, such as Omega or Moria. (Those would lower my phone bill
considerably....maybe then I could afford a C book :)

Thanks for any replies, and please use e-mail, I'm liable to miss any replies
that are posted here...
