I especially liked the excerpts stating the comet's progress, the damage it
did when it hit, and the aftereffects (weather patterns, glaciers etc.)

However ...

The book does tend to drag on a lot after the comet actually hits -- a lot
of it reminds me of something I might see on a TV movie ... how a few 
California families survive a catastrophe.
