We have a requirement for modula-2 to run on various cpus (at present, vaxen, 68Ks, and intel) and would like to have a common front-end for all. The Amsterdam Compiler Kit has been mentioned as a possible way to achieve this, but I have never used it and know nothing about it except what's in the paper and ACM article from Tanenbaum et al in 1983. So, I'm looking for comments on the use of the ACK with modula-2. Is a modula-2 front-end for the ACK available (now)? Is the ACK intended for the building of compilers suitable for production purposes, or is it primarily an educational tool? Is it "good"? Any comments appreciated. Also, any comments on other ways of providing a common modula-2 front-end to produce code for the listed cpus would be welcome. Please mail responses to me; if there's interest, I will summar- ize. Thanks, as they say, in advance. Uucp: {seismo, decvax, ukc}!mcvax!cernvax!hslrswi!ken Bitnet: ken%hslrswi.UUCP@cernvax.BITNET X.400: ken@hslrswi.hasler Audio: ken!
