[comp.lang.modula2] tools for Modula-2

AB039@DK0RRZK0.BITNET (07/14/88)

With our copy of DEC Ultrix 2.2 we received Mike Powells Portable Modula-2
Compiler some weeks ago. We'd like to run it on our two microVaxen, but the
system is somewhat raw as it comes. (DEC distributes it with their
unsupported software|) Therefore I'm looking for some tools supporting
Modula-2 programming in general and this compiler in particular. Any piece
of information on the subject is welcome, especially as regards public
domain software.

Especially appreciated would be any of the following:

        - a M2-specific make utility or a dependency analyzer
generating Makefiles from the IMPORT-list contained
          in the modules.

        - a complete interface to the UNIX C library or perhaps
some utility to automatically generate DEFINITION
          MODULES from the header files.

(By the way, I'd like to know if there is available
some source of a M2 standard library. I just read the
OSSI (Operating System Standard Interface) proposal
of Biagioni et al. in the M2 special issue of
          IEEE Software, Nov. 1986.)

        - some syntax-directed M2-editor, or, perhaps even better,
an enhanced Modula-2 mode for GNU Emacs. (We are actually
          using V.18.50.)

I would be glad to receive some help on these topics.

Thanks in advance

          Rainer
