DBOTTOMS@DEPAUW.BITNET ("Transporter Chief, Douglas J. Bottoms") (04/13/90)
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Modula II Bitnet Mailing Lists: I have a need for a suggestion(s) for some very good books that I can study to prepare me for a class on Data Structures. The class will either be taught in Pascal or Modula II. Any Help will be appreciated. Please send all message directly to Dbottoms@DePauw because I do not have the priviledge of being on a ListServer. Thank you. Douglas J. Bottoms

Dear Douglas, The book we use here at the University of Buffalo is "Introduction to Data Structures" by David Riley, parts one and two. It is a extremely good book for teaching the basic concepts of programming and specifics of Mod-2. Part one concerns itself mostly with very simple (but important) concepts, such as simple data types like CARDINAL or CHAR, and array and record structures. Part two smoothly moves onto topics such as pointers and recursion. This book has been used here for the bottom level CS courses since modula-2 was first taught here (approximately 1987). Steven W.
