On 1 MAY 90 Cobus de Beer, when talking about Repertoire, added this: >Don't ever buy a library from Software Artistry because the M2 libraries are >junk. Even the demo programs don't work properly. I have reported many bugs >and have not received a single reply or correction. To each his own... The group that I work with used to utilize Repertoire (version 1.5e and predecessors) but eventually abandoned it. Perhaps our needs weren't complex enough; we only needed a menu/help system. Rep gives you that and more; as Cobus mentions, this comes at a price of a 460 page manual and the necessity of a couple of years spent learning the system. Bug free it isn't but the telephone support was very good; 90% of our phone calls to PMI resulted in the revelation that we had had a misunderstanding with the manual (pilot error!!). We now use Software Artistry for our menu/help system. The source code comes with the product; we've altered it a little to better fit our needs. Price (about a year ago) was $100. There are no additional fees involved. We did find bugs in the product but not 'many' as Cobus reports. And the demo programs worked fine. Certainly the $9 or so in postage for Repertoire minus source code is a bargain and is to be recommended. But if you are after simple, easy to understand code (possibly to put in a commercial product) then perhaps a library from another vendor would be better. -------------------- | Bill Josephson | | Auburn, AL | | BJOSE@AUDUCVAX | --------------------
