[comp.lang.modula2] Modula-2 for Mac--summary, pt 2

ccc_ldo@waikato.ac.nz (Lawrence D'Oliveiro, Waikato University) (06/29/90)

In my summary of MPW Modula-2 compilers, I passed on some disparaging
comments about MetCom and MacMETH. Since then, a number of people
have brought the following facts to my attention:

MetCom is just an earlier name for Metrowerks. A lot of people
had nice things to say about the Metrowerks compiler, so it
must be greatly improved over what was going under the name of
MetCom.

MacMETH is a version developed for educational use at ETH Zurich
(the home of Niklaus Wirth, Modula-2 et al). Not only that, its
licensed source code forms the basis of the other compilers as well.
It isn't meant to be a commercial product on its own.
