SRC Modula-3 is an implementation of Modula-3 written at the System Research Center (Digital Equipment Corp.) and is available free of charge. The current release is 1.4 and runs on VAX/Ultrix, DECstation/Ultrix, and SPARC machines. 1.5 is now in beta testing and introduces ports to Apollo, IBM and HP machines. We will send a message to this newsgroup when it is available. SRC Modula-3 is available via anonymous ftp from gatekeeper.dec.com (16.1.0.2) in pub/DEC/Modula-3. Eric Muller.

There's development continuing at DEC-SRC, a compiler or two in the works outside of DEC, and interest of some sort from IBM and Xerox PARC, at least. Pine Creek Software in Pittsburgh has some plans to produce an implementation for I'm-not-sure-what machines.
