[comp.lang.modula2] Location of the Oberon System

thssgkt@iitmax.IIT.EDU (George Thiruvathukal) (08/12/90)

An ftp site was posted several weeks ago for the Oberon compiler. Could
someone be so kind as to post it again?

Dr. Martin Reiser of IBM Research has written a book on the Oberon
System which will be published by Addison-Wesley this fall. In this
book, he describes what we call the "final release" of Oberon, which
incorporates some small changes to the original system made after we had
gathered exensive experience with it. The final release up until now
only runs on Ceres, the Macintosh and Sparc versions are based on the
previous version. We are currently updating the Macintosh and Sparc
software to conform to the specifications in the Oberon Book. If you
haven't already retrieved Oberon from our FTP server, please wait until
this update is available, which should be the case by the end of this
week.
