[comp.lang.modula2] Modula-2 on Motorola 88000

In a recent posting Dieter Barnard enquires about M-2 compilers for Data
General Aviion systems. These workstations are built around the Motorola
88000 risc chips. There is a standardization organisation 88Open that
certifies such systems and software to guarantee binary compatability.
This makes 88K systems very attractive, and is a reason why we have
bought a couple.

Now compilers:
At the moment I know EPCs (Edinburgh Portable Compilers) pascal and modula-2
compilers. We have them both. For educational institutions they have
reasonable discount schemes.

As far as Rowley Associates are concerned, they haven't ported their
compilers yet, but are planning to do so.

Flame on:
Barnard cannot understand why there should be a problem about exporting
technology to South Africa. A lot of countries are boycotting SA (well
done), that the US (and DG?) is not in the forefront of this does not
come as a big surprise to anyone.
