From: Alan R. Katz <KATZ@USC-ISIF> Can anyone give me a list of books in Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover series and suggest the order to read them in? I just read the SF book club's edition of "The Shattered Chain" and "Thendara House" and thought they were quite good. However, they seem to have refered to things which have happened in other books. I looked in the bookstore and it seems as if MZB has written a million books in that series!! Which ones should be read to get a good idea of the entire Darkover History? Alan -------

nt of its technology would inevitably foster a similarly technological society. DL and "Vai Dom" (one of the shorts) are justification for much of the history that shapes the later books.

From: hjjh <hjjh@utexas-11.ARPA> ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Darkover Chronology ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Based on the listing in THE DARKOVER CONCORDANCE by Walter Breen (MZB's husband), with any subsequent books I can recall slipped in where it seems likely they belong, the sequence based on internal chronology is: DARKOVER LANDFALL STORMQUEEN HAWKMISTRESS! TWO TO CONQUER THE SPELL SWORD THE SHATTERED CHAIN THENDARA HOUSE THE FORBIDDEN TOWER STAR OF DANGER THE BLOODY SUN WINDS OF DARKOVER HERITAGE OF HASTUR SWORD OF ALDONES concurrent with SHARRA'S EXILE THE PLANET SAVERS THE WORLD WRECKERS

#R:sri-arpa:-1576800:uokvax:5400028:000:1036 uokvax!jmike Jan 26 13:20:00 1984 Well as near as I can remember this is a complete list. The last two books listed (the bottom of each column) claim to be Darkover books. They might take place in the same universe that Marion Zimmer Bradley created but bear (as far as I could tell) no relation to the `planet' of Darkover. The only two books that I have not included contain short stories of which many are written by `The Friends of Darkover'. I did not include them as I cannot remember their names. (I didn't buy them) Note: Sharra's Exile was a re-written version of an earlier Dark- over book. Second Note: Keep in mind that I ?might? have missed a book. The World Wreckers The Shattered Chain The Winds of Darkover The Sword of Aldones Darkover Landfall The Bloody Sun Stormqueen The Forbidden Tower Two to Conquer Star of Danger The Heritage of Hastur The Spell Sword The Planet Savers Hawkmistress Thendara House Sharra's Exile The Falcons of Marabedla The Door Through Space ------------------ Mike Stanley ...!ctvax!uokvax!jmike
