[comp.lang.modula2] MacOberon on 68000 ?

jww502@anu.oz.au ("John W White") (05/09/91)

I know this question has been asked before but, of course, I was not interested in it then !(it's always the way) So is it possible ?

Thanks a _lot_ :-)

Dave.

MacOberon requires an MC68020 or higher and a floating-point
coprocessor. Niklaus Wirth himself decided that we shouldn't try to
make Oberon work on the 68000 because "Oberon is a modern operating
system designed for modern processors". Lack of performance would be
perceived as a flaw of Oberon, and not the processor architecture.
Consequently the deliberate restriction to 68020.
