Help, I have an old version of the TURBO PASCAL TOOLBOX by Borland. I bought the package back in 1984 when I first bought Turbo Pascal Version 2.0. I have never really used the sources in the package, until now. I have a need to write a small data base for a friend, and would like to use some of the tools that came with the Toolbox package. PROBLEM: I have tried to run the included program BTREE.PAS (version 1.00) with no success. I get errors such as entered data is not stored, the data files are all corrupt, the number of free records at the top of the screen usually says -3678 (or whatever). When trying to list data that I think has been entered the program just prompts with Press ENTER... to continue. I have looked at the data files after a seession and they are truely empty. None of the data I type in is getting into the data files (true for the index files as well). QUESTION: Am I fighting a bad diskette (garbage in my copy), a bad program (garbage of a different sort on the disk), or am I doing something wrong (it seems simple enough, run turbo, load btree.pas, run it, then all crap breaks loose). Please let me know if there is a later version of the TURBO TOOLBOX with B+TREES and Q-SORT than my 1.00. Also, if any of you have fought this battle before, I'd appreciate any clues on where to go to find a solution. The number of errors I see make me think I have a defective program of the second kind (alas, it never really worked in the first place). But, that is unlike Borland, who is pretty good about given working examples. Thanks in advance..... -- Tim Margeson (206)253-5240 PO Box 3500 d/s C1-937 @@ 'Who said that?'
