The movie with the bodies lined up on slabs stretching off into the distance
was "The Questor Tapes", which was just mentioned a few days ago.  The
"gaurdians" were androids, charged with protecting the Earth from itself
until society was mature enough to survive alone.  This was a pilot for a
series, by, I think, Gene Rodenberry, and aired in about '72.  I remember a
good deal of the plot, if anyone is interested, but it was largely a secret
agent style movie with the US gov't trying to track down the escaped
android, which of course had all the normal android traits: super human
strength, capable of predicting random events through rapid calculation, etc.
