Jeff, >Also, does anyone know if borland has a modula-2 compiler? I asked on the >other modula-2 conf and no one has responded. A friend of mine has Borland's Modula-2 for his Kaypro 8-bit machine (BTW, he loves it). He reports that while a Turbo Modula-2 for the IBM PC reached alpha-test stage almost two years ago, nothing was ever released. I'm speculating that Borland is probably taking the same tactic that Digital Equipment used: extend Pascal to the point where it *almost* has all the features of Modula-2. The advantages to that (for Borland and Digital) are: 1. You don't have to educate the market to sell the product. (There aren't that many M2 programmers out there and standardization is far from complete). 2. You don't cut into your Pascal market with your Modula-2 product. 3. You don't have to support two *relatively* close (just different enough to cause pain) products. George Disclaimer: These views are my own and do not represent those of Tartan Laboratories, Inc.
