#R:pur-phy:-120300:uokvax:5400039:000:630 uokvax!jab Feb 17 19:17:00 1984 I can't help writing this one. I just saw a flame go by suggesting that "net.sf-lovers.rah" (or some such) be created to get the Heinlein lovers out of the newgroup. ("Let's get to some real SF ... like who's gonna be the next Doctor.") Come on. This is a public forum, modulo the notes/news worlds. I don't like the implied censorship that you want to bring on. (What's more, I don't even LIKE the Doctor.) Has anybody read volume one of "The Reluctant King," by Sprague de Camp? I can't find it, and have the second and third volumes sitting in the living room. Will it hurt to start in the middle? Jeff Bowles Lisle, IL

* re: starting de Camp's "reluctant King" series in the middle: as far as I know, doing so won't hurt. It won't even spoil the series, or at least doing so didn't spoil it for me. The books are written with occasional flashbacks, to provide essential information if you'd missed an earlier volume. However, enough is left unsaid that you can go back and read the earlier volume later, and still be entertained. Boy, I really like de Camp! -Kieran A. Carroll ...decvax!utzoo!kcarroll
