In an earlier posting, I described a problem we've been having with Turbo Pascal 5.5 and the MetaGraphics windows package called "MetaWindows". The problem is apparently resolved, and Turbo is not the culprit. It turns out the earlier versions of the MetaShel graphics shell were known to run out of stack when called by very large programs. Ours is, in fact, extremely large. I tried upgrading from MetaShel Version 3.4 to Version 3.5, and the problem with garbaged screen graphics immediately went away. However, I did find several bugs in the 3.5 program interface, and I wound up rewriting a fair amount of their source. If anyone out there is using MetaWindows, you might want to take note. The problem is insidious and highly unpredictable. Also, thanks a lot to all of you who responded with suggestions. Keith McNabb Industrial Technology Institute
