[comp.lang.pascal] Turbo Pascal and Classical Music.

nmouawad@water.uwaterloo.ca (Naji Mouawad) (12/04/90)

Sometimes ago I posted this message about the correlation between
Turbo Pascal (and Pascal in general) and Classical Music. Here are
your answers, and most of you tend to approve of the Pas-Cla
connection.

I did a slight editing, in the sens that whenever I felt that
a sentence would hurt the feelings of our friends in the C-arena,
I thought it would be better not including it; no point in sparking
a flamable debate.

Man, what a concept. 's almost, true, tho. I'm sitting here, writing
in ANSI C, listening to G & R (blech). I used to write TP & listen
to classical, but, as they say, real programmers don't use pascal,
and certainly not a nice integrated user friendly package like TP.

Good Luck Adriaan; this Brahms concerto is for you :)

I think I see what you're getting at: ear/eye for 'structure'?
Wouldn't baroque music or gregorian chants also fit the bill? I
guess that would mean that C programmers should be into metal or
jazz which require improvisation? :>

But Beethoeven is a romantic composer! (19th century C-music
writer? :>) Actually, I've wondered if romantic composers wouldn't
sound good on an electric guitar...

Food for thoughts, Cam, food for thoughts. I wonder if the C-gang
is listening ...

Alf is kind'a short and clear about it:

I prefer Turbo Pascal a lot over C, and I LOVE classic music:-)

On the other hand, Duncan:

Here's a negative: I can't stand C, love TP, find most classical
music boring.

Well, Vive la difference !

And here the opinion of a pianist ! Thanks Oliver.

Although you're absolutely right (lovers of classical music
definitely prefer Pascal) you shouldn't call for a vote. Culture is
not a matter of democracy.

Mike writes:

I do. I think Pascal has a beautiful elegence like the music of
Bach or Handel.

The music C programmers would be into, I think, would be more say
punk rock or industrial music.

Anybody in the C-Land ?

Kerry says:

Yes I prefer Pascal over C and yes I like classical music.

Thanks Kerry.

Gerry writes:

Most definitely! A curious thing I've noticed however is that,
although I'm partial to Beethoven, I feel more productive listening
to Bach. Somehow, Bach just seems more conducive to heavy Pascal
coding sessions.

I've also noticed a preference for classical music among my co-workers,
regardless of the language they prefer.

( Oops! I forgot a clever tagline! Is one required by law?)

Well, that's all folks ! Thanks for your comments. All mistakes are
mine !
