[net.music] Inspiring Music, Distressing Pressing....

	------------------------------------------------------------

I've encountered a bit of a problem with an album I
recently purchased... I've recently discovered Synergy (=
along the lines of me hear, me like! ) and, as finances per-
mit, intend to acquire these albums, in chronological order.
When I purchased the second album, called Sequencer, I
discovered, to my dismay, that most of many of the tracks
had a severe case of static noise. It sounds something like
tape hiss, except much louder, and much harsher, and it
tends not to be noticeable when the music level drops, and
most noticeable when the peaks occur.

Now, can anyone out there tell me what might cause
this, and also if anyone with this same album has had simi-
lar difficulties? Note that I returned my first copy and
had it replaced, with no improvement, I have tried the album
with several different turntables ( with their respective
cartridges ) with no change in the situation, so it DOES
seem to be the record, and possibly the whole production
run. I've also got Synergy's first album, and there is no
	problem with it.

I'm writing to A&M ( the distributor for Passport
Records, who manufacture the albums ) to ask if they've
noticed any quality problems with this ( Psprt Rcrds ) line,
which is not terribly large, or this particular album ( bad
master? ) or the latest production run of these albums.

Thank you for any help you can give. I expect that
it's best to respond by mail only, and if anything turns up
that may be of general interest, I will ( or you could )
	post an article.
