[comp.lang.pascal] Using older TPU's in newer TP versions

TOMJ@csdserver3.csd.scarolina.edu (Thomas E. Jenkins, Jr.) (06/11/91)

Hi,

I don't know how good the utilities are, but on simtel, in the turbopas
directory, there are two items which MAY help you continue to use TP version
4 TPUs. One, from Borland, is TPU2OBJ. The DOCs claim it can help convert
some, but not all TPUs to OBJs. I think this depends on how much the
routines relied on the system unit. There is also another, TPU2ASM, which
will help convert the TPU file to a ASM source file. The DOC claims it is
possible to fully convert some ENTIRE programs to ASM for tweaking
performance. I have never used either package, but looked at them with
interest. Good luck!

STD DISCLAIMERS: I have NO affiliation with the authors.
I make no money from the sale of these products. ( or any
                  others :-( ).

True, but for all practical purposes the response to this faq is
that TPU units are not convertible. If there is a solution (without
having the source), it is prohibitively complicated. This seems to
be the consensus of the repeated discussion on this subject, I
think, Tom.
