Excuse the reposting of this call for papers, but Mr. C. Moore of BRL caught a very important typo, the Abstract Submission address had an incorrect zipcode! Again, I'm posting this to sci.physics, sci.research, sci.misc and brl.seminar because the news.conferences had been limited to computer conferences. SMOKE/OBSCURANTS SYMPOSIUM XII Kossiakoff Conference and Education Center The Johns Hopkins University Laurel, Maryland 20707 19-21 April 1988 Sponsored by Colonel Francis M. Durel Project Manager, Smoke/Obscurants Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland 21005-5001 Abstract Deadline: 13 January 1988 INTRODUCTION Smoke/Obscurants Symposium XII will be conducted 19-21 April 1988 at the Kossiakoff Conference and Education Center, The Johns Hopkins University, Laurel, Maryland. This Symposium is sponsored by the Project Manager of Smoke/Obscurants of Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. The theme of the twelfth annual Symposium is "Obscurants on the Modern Battlefield." The objective is to bring together materiel developers, combat developers, and end users of smoke and electromagnetic (EM) systems to discuss new concepts, developments, and interactive assessments of system performance in realistic battlefield environments. Members of the Department of Defense, industry, academe, and allied nations personnel are invited to attend. CALL FOR PAPERS Submission of papers up to and including the SECRET level are requested from DOD, contractor, industrial, academic, and allied nations personnel. Papers are solicited on topics involving smoke/obscurants and EO systems. It is up to authors and their facilities to determine the security classification of their paper. Poster presentations will be considered. ABSTRACTS The deadline for receipt of all abstracts is 13 January 1988. Unclassified abstracts are preferred. Contact those listed under General Information for the format for abstract submissions. Please include paper title, name(s) and address(es) of author(s), telephone number of point of contact, presentation length (20 minutes maximum), security classification, and audio visual requirements, and underline the name of the anticipated presenter of the paper. Abstract review will be completed and notices of acceptance or non- acceptance mailed by 9 February 1988. Papers not selected for presentation at the Symposium may be selected for inclusion in the published proceedings. Unclassified abstracts of the selected papers will be presented for distribution at the Symposium. Abstracts should be mailed to: Science and Technology Corporation Meetings Division Attn: SOS XII 101 Research Drive Hampton, VA 23666-1340 USA Assisted by SCIENCE and TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION Meetings Division ***************** TOPICS TO BE CONSIDERED ********************* Area A. Smoke Material Development and applications of new smoke material; Methodologies for smoke production: Modeling for smoke predictions and smoke resource expenditures; Test instrumentation and results in the evaluation of smoke material capabilities and dissemination technology; Smoke figures of merit; Technical countermeasures to smoke.
