[sci.misc] Science in sci.bio

werner@aecom.UUCP (Craig Werner) (11/05/86)

One of the things that always amazed me about net.sci was the almost
total lack of postings dealing with science.
In the manner of my previous heresy of posting actual medical
articles to net.med, I am going to start of practice of posting a random
abstract from the weekly journal Science (published by the American
Association for the Advancement of Science - AAAS) to sci.bio.
I will obviously limit myself therefore to biological topics.
If net.sci still existed I would have posted there and not officially
followed this policy (although in practice it would have worked out
that way). However there is no sci.sci, and frankly I have philosophical
objections to posting to any group that ends in '.misc'. So sci.bio
it is.
This feature will be called AOTW - Abstract of the Week. And like
medical puzzles, they will be numbered sequentially.

It is my belief that given the short length of the abstract
and my practice of providing full bibliographic citation that there will
be no conflict concerning copyright law.
