Secondly: brighter, sharper projection: the larger the film area, the more light you can jam through the print without toasting it. Thirdly: the width of a scratch on the film is independent of film width. So a scratch on a larger print becomes smaller on the screen due to the fact that less magnification is required in projection. -c
