A couple of random thoughts about the series "V". There is a great deal wrong with the series "V". This we all know. But there could be some good come of it. It would be nice to see a science show such as "Nova" take a look at "V". Just think of the possibilities. They could show a clip from "V", then tear it to pieces. Young people would watch such a show, and I think they would learn a great deal. Take each scene in "V" which contains a scientific error, show it, then go back and explain what is wrong with it. It would be great fun. It would be nice if someone in the Boston area called up PBS and suggested that they do something like this with "V". Anyone out there want to try it? How many people caught the statement that Sirius is a galaxy? The only accurate part of the show was the political statement. I have read a good deal about what went on in Europe during the fascist era. The producers of "V" seemed to understand how fascism can gain control, but science had nothing to do with the fiction in this series. Richard Piner Purdue Physics Dept.
