[sci.lang] Looking for different expansions of WIMP

rda@epistemi.ed.ac.uk (Robert Dale) (05/12/88)

I'd like to track down *published* uses of different expansions of the
acronym "WIMP". I've seen (but I don't remember where) "Windows,
Icons, Mice and Pointers" and "Windows, Icons, and Mouse Products".
Now, in the January 1988 issue of the magazine "Offset Printing and
Reprographics", an author claims authoritatively that it stands for
"Windows, Icons, Mice and Pucks". I'd appreciate pointers to
published uses of any of the above, the earlier the better. I'll
summarise to the net after a couple of weeks.
