[sci.math.stat] help needed for probability scaling

SM01@LIVERPOOL.AC.UK (09/05/90)

Has anybody information about the probability scale (which was used in biology
by Harding 1946 to dissect normal populations). I can't use probability paper b
ecause of a huge data. What I need is a computer program which enables me to us
e as probability paper on the computer or if I could know the formula which is
used to produce probability scale. Thanks in advance. Ahmet.<sm01@liverpool.ac.

The public domain package GEOEAS from the US Environmental Protection Agency
will produce probability plots. The basics stats program STAT1 seems ideal for
your purpose. You can obtain manuals and disks from the Computer Oriented
Geological Society (COGS) PO Box 1317, Denver CO 80201. The cost for the
manual and 6 floppies is about $50. You can also obtain the package from the
author(s) by sending preformatted floppies to Evan J. Englund (Geo-EAS), USEPA
EMSL-LV, EAD, PO Box 93478, Las Vegas, NV 89193-3478. The package is designed
for 2D-spatial statistics but is does a good job of data handling and
presentation. It is a little slow and requires lots of memory to run some of
the options but overall it is a reliable easy-to-use set of programs and the
price is unbeatable.
