[sci.math.stat] Meta-data in expert systems in statistics

richard@swi.psy.uva.nl (Richard Benjamins) (10/22/90)

A friend of mine asked me to post the following message. Please reply
to the e-mail address given below.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Here at the University of Leiden we are currently working on a project
titled "Modelling Meta-Data". It belongs to the European research program
DOSES (Development Of Statistical Expert Systems).

National Statistical Institutes process huge quantities of data. In
statistical data processing, information *about* the data needs to be
taken into account in order to analyze the data correctly. This concept
of information about data is referred to as "Meta-Data". The aim of
the "Modelling Meta-Data" project is to model and formalize the meta-data,
and to demonstrate it's usefulness for National Statistical Institutes,
by implementing it within a statistical analysis environment.

I would like to:
- get in contact with people/institutes involved in related research
  fields,
- get references to literature in this field.

Please e-mail to the e-adress below.
Thanks in advance.
