[sci.math] Dynamical systems simulator

rreiner@yunexus.YorkU.CA (Richard Reiner) (02/10/91)

I'm looking for a program which will graphically display systems of
differential or difference equations. I'm most interested in
displaying phase portraits and vector fields, but other displays would
also be nice.

I've had a look at Huseyin Kocak's very nice program PHASER (from the
diskette accompanying his _Differential and Difference Equations
Through Computer Experiments_, 2nd ed., Springer Verlag 1989), but it
has some limitations on the form and length of equations which make it
unsuitable for my purposes.

Ideally I'd like to have a program for 80386 under MessDOS using SVGA
graphics; a UNIX + Tektronix solution would also be OK. Of course
freeware is preferred, and I'd like to have sources, ideally in C. Is
there anything like this out there?

Thanks,
