I am working on a program to solve one of those puzzles that you give your kids, one where you put the numbers in a 4x4 matrix in order and I want to look it up in a book, but I don't know what to look up. Does this game have a name, of the mathimatics have a name so I can expand to more ideas. Thanks. -- sven@cs.widener.edu Widener CS system manager Sven Mike Heinicke and Student (pssmheinicke@cyber.widener.edu (if you must))

I think this puzzle is covered in volume II of Winning Ways (games in
particular) by Berlekamp, Conway and Guy. I don't have it handy, but I am
pretty sure there is at least a brief discussion of it in that book.
