[sci.math] What nonlinear dynamics books should one own?

mroussel@alchemy.chem.utoronto.ca (Marc Roussel) (06/25/91)

I have a pretty good idea of what books my supervisor thinks are
interesting, but I would like to have some idea of what other people think.
As my budget permits, I am trying to acquire a small library of
mathematical classics, especially in the area of nonlinear dynamics. So
what good books on nonlinear differential equations, difference
equations, difference-differential equations, and so on do you suggest? I am
particularly interested in books that deal with delay-differential
equations (a.k.a. difference-differential equations) since this
fascinating area is ignored by so many writers. I can (and do) read the
literature, so the level of difficulty of the work is of no real consequence
to me as long as the effort is rewarded with useful insights.
I have redirected followups to alt.books.technical, but you should
probably email me your suggestions and I will summarize to all relevant
newsgroups when the traffic dies down.

                                Sincerely,

				Marc R. Roussel
