Ford Aerospace (very shortly to become Loral Aerospace) in sunny San Jose,
California is interested in possibly hiring an individual at the MS, PhD
level to perform research in nonlinear dynamics. The potential candidate
should have the following qualifications:
a.) analytical and computational skills sufficient to pursue
independent research on the dynamics of coupled nonlinear
oscillators - that is, you must be willing and able to do your
own programming and simulations;
b.) a background or experience in the engineering of communication
systems, i.e., phase locked loops in carrier recovery,
demodulation of N-ary codes, general receiver and transmitter
issues, high data rate systems, etc.
c.) excellent written and verbal skills as evidenced by
publications - that is, you will be expected to write papers!
This project is currently funded by a reliable source for a 2 year period
running through August 1992 - possibly longer. Local resources include
Sparcstations, graphics terminals, INSITE and other nonlinear dynamics software,
etc. External resources include an active university collaboration.
The main opportunity here is to participate in a project aimed at doing good
science and overseeing its application in the real world - each having equal
weight.
