Being a high school educator in the fields of science and mathematics I often encounter helpful software developments in education. One such development is a software package called "SKY TRAVEL." Sky Travel offers the student a user-friendly method of guiding him/herself through the heavens, gathering information, charting the heavenly bodies, etc., from any point on the globe, during any time from 10000 BC to 10000 AD. Its database catalogues and describes over 7000 skybound objects with some interesting features including the ability to print full-page charts or save them to a MacPaint file for later editing. I recently went on a camping trip to Mt. Pinos and took a number of these printouts along delineating the sky at various times and directions which enabled me to spend more time star-gazing and less time looking at a book of starcharts.... Anyway, I would recommend this software package to educators at the high school or college/university level mainly because of its ease of use.
