ANNOUNCEMENT

The Canadian Space Society will be holding its January meeting
on Monday the 23rd, at 7:30 P.M., in room 252 of the Education
Centre building, at 155 College Street in Toronto (south side
of College, just west of University Avenue). At the meeting,
a talk entitled "Collision Detection for the Space Station Mobile
Servicing System" will be given by Terry Ng, an engineer from
Spar Aerospace's Remote Manipulator Systems Division.

Spar RMSD manufactured the Space Shuttles' famed "Canadarms", and
is responsible for developing a greatly-enhanced version of those
manipulators, as Canada's contribution to the international Freedom
space station. Mr. Ng will be reporting on a project to develop
automated methods to detect imminent collisions between the MSS
manipulator and other elements of the space station.

The Canadian Space Society is a non-profit group based in Toronto,
and has held monthly meetings since 1982, for people interested
in developing space. All interested in attending our meetings are
welcome, free of charge. Refreshments will be served (also free
of charge!). If you are interested in joining the CSS, or in hearing
more about it, please let me know via email.
