I am seeking background information regarding the onboard systems technology used on Magellan, Galileo and Hubble. All information is requested on a purely amateur basis. The specific areas in which I seek information are: System level specifications for each satellite Hardware - General block structure etc... - Specific device details CPUs Chips or technologies (80C186,OBP, AOP...) Speeds (Mips... MHz) Interface mechanisms (polling/interupts etc...) Bandwidth available/required etc... Memory Protection facilities (hardware/software?) Chips or technologies Physical organisation etc... - Construction Techniques (SMT etc...) - Interfaces Telemetry Interfaces Mechanisms(parallel/Serial/AART/LAN...) Regularity of transimssion Flexibility etc... Onboard Experiment interfaces Mechanisms(parallel/Serial/AART/LAN...) Separate CPUs? etc... Operating systems (or the equivalent...) - Operational requirements - Performance issues - Block structure of the systems - Parentage (Unix, Multix,Flex...) - Applications interface general information - Flexibility Communications Protocols - Error correction mechanisms All replies should be directed by email to hamilton@syd.dit.csiro.au Should sufficient information be accumulated, I will post a summary to this news group. Thanks in advance.. Paul Hamilton... : -) CSIRO Division of Information Technology... Sydney Australia
