A while back I asked who did the original "Tainted Love" and I was told it was Soft Cell back in '81 or '82. Maybe I'm crazy, but I could've sworn this song, perhaps under a different title, was done back in the sixties sometime. Not only just the music of the song but those words 'I use to run to you, now I run from you' just sound too familiar to me. I'd appreciate some help on this since it's driving me crazy..........or am I already crazy? Stephanie Baker

If memory serves correctly, Blue Oyster Cult did "Tainted Love" on "Agents of Fortune". Note: The opinions expressed in this posting do not necessarily correspond to the reality inhabited either by you or my employers. Jeff M.

"Tainted Love" was originally sung by Gloria Jones around 1966, not sure of the label. Allyn Hardyck allynh@Berkeley ..!ucbvax!allynh

The song on Blue Oyster Cult - Agents of Fortune is called Sinful Love, not Tainted Love. ....cornell!roger

I am not sure who first recorded "Tainted Love" but I believe that the Soft Cell EP credits the song to E. C. Cobb. Don Stein druny!stein
